Christmas tastes in Ipswich

It’s a very festive farmers market on The Cornhill in Ipswich this Sunday.

The town centre is twinkling with Christmas decorations and 25 farmers market stalls are going to add to the colour of the Cornhill plus we’ve got carol singers as well!

The festive spirit is lifted by Big Bear and their craft cider as well as some hot mulled cider or perhaps a craft beer might be more up your street from locals Old Felixstowe Brewery or chai from our friends in Ipswich based Hullabaloo or kombucha from Pure Kombucha.

There will be plenty of local artisan food as always with Alex Artisan Bakery, fudge from Yum Yum Tree plus breads and sourdoughs from Harvey & Co. Compleat will have their range of homemade pies and local cheeses plus Norwegian Bakers and their vegan pastries. Mena will have hot Indian street food or if you like something cooler try flavours and sorbets from Simply Ice Cream! The Jam Shed is back with jams and chutneys as it the East Coast Chilli Company with their hot sauces plus PG Oils with oils and olives.

Look out for Greenacres with their local pork or Gemma with her vegan burgers and donuts – everyone is catered for at our festive market this Sunday!

10am – 2pm on The Cornhill in the heart of Ipswich.

Two new artisan producers join the market this Sunday on The Cornhill.

The county town sees the return of its monthly farmers market on Sunday and there are two new exciting additions to this thriving market. So with the message that transport concerns may disrupt the supply chain, it is great to know that the great local fresh food will be readily available at the farmer’s market.

New Artisan baker Harvey & Co are joining the farmers market on the Cornhill, travelling down from their base up the road in Woodbridge. “I am passionate about bringing real naturally leavened breads to local people so being part of the farmers market makes perfect sense to me’ stated founder Harvey Allen.

Harvey & Co will be bringing a selection of white and brown sourdough, French style baguettes and more ‘traditional’ tin loaves. The Harvey & Co sourdough is made entirely from natural and organic ingredients sourced from the very best farmers and millers East Anglia has to offer. Grown in Halesworth and milled less than 6 miles at the Historic Woodbridge Tide Mill – Harvey’s choice of flour is all about supporting the local farming and baking industries – whilst never compromising the quality of the end product. One of the original `founding fathers’ of the farmers market, Poppies Care Farm is now focussing on their work at the farm but we are delighted that joining the market from this week is Alex Horne’s Essex Allotment which is a four-season market garden producing the highest quality produce through intensive, small-scale farming. `Alex’s aim is to make organic, local, sustainable produce readily available to everyone in his local area and we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming him to Ipswich’ stated Justine Paul founder of Suffolk Market Events which runs the farmers market. All the produce is organic and therefore totally free from any chemicals and pesticides and this Sunday you will find a great range of seasonal produce including courgettes, lettuces, tomatoes, carrots, chillis, green beans, beetroot, fresh herbs and much more

The Ipswich Farmers’ Market will be back on the Cornhill on Sunday 3rd October 2021 from 10am – 2pm
